Give each column a meaning
Workspace currency: USD. Currency conversion is not performed.
Only listed numeric formats are accepted. No currency symbols. Debit and credit must be non-negative; a row cannot contain both. Dates are never guessed. Rules may classify positive amounts as spending refunds.

A budget workspace without a bank connection
Quiet Ledger works with transaction CSVs or entries you add yourself. Your financial data is processed in this browser, with no account, bank sync, uploads, AI or analytics scripts.
- Import a CSV and explicitly map the date, description and amount columns. Review dates, signs and possible duplicates before confirming.
- Assign categories, use rules for repeated descriptions, and compare monthly income and spending with your category budgets.
- Download transaction CSVs or a full JSON backup. Session mode is the default; optional device saving is unencrypted and can be lost if browser data is cleared.
Use one currency per workspace; there is no exchange-rate conversion. Transfers are excluded from spending and income, savings goals are manual notes, and a transaction list does not establish an account balance or net worth. This is an organizer, not financial, tax or investment advice.
